Facilitated Business Decision Analysis and Resolution
Facilitated Decision Analysis (FDA) is a specialized analysis technique with the broader field of decision analysis. It takes an understanding of how to model the business or organization utilizing a team solicit/analysis approach where the team is comprised of both business management and corporate professionals. The purpose of these sessions is to derive analytical information, problem analysis, solution options and a consensus on a viable solution.
Facilitated Decision Analysis differs from the hard core decision science because it is not a purely academic, objective and mathematical decision process. Instead, it accepts the reality that every organization has human, political and cultural subjective perspectives that must be dealt with in order to resolve realistic solutions.
The facilitation and analysis skills applied relate to being able to develop and use a collectively derived sensitivity analysis of the problem as the framework for directing the FDA toward an examination of the processes, controls, resources, risks and desired outcome of the issues, environment and organizational configuration.
The skills of knowing how to facilitate are much more important than a familiarity with the activities or structure of the business or organization. FDA is a decision process and can be applied with equal effectiveness across any business, technical or scientific discipline.
